Of the two leading contenders, who will wear the crown come 2015? I don't know. The election is fast approaching. Do I want a change? The change needs to be qualified because things seldom remain static under any leader, it is either there is a change for the better or a change for the worse. I want a change for the better. Of the two contenders, who will bring about that positive change that Nigeria desperately needs? I don't know because I am not omniscient. In the biggest country in Latin America, one of the top contenders for the presidency in the last elections that returned the incumbent died in a plane crash during the period of campaign. I do not pray for such. There were seven years of plenty, followed by another seven years of famine under the same Pharaoh in biblical Egypt and there was a period of famine followed by one of prosperity under the same king in the history of Israel. We should not get too desperate because no one can boast of tomorrow.
Many Nigerians, unhappy and frustrated about the state of the nation have suddenly found their long-awaited messiah while nothing good can ever come out of the present Nazareth. Even children of Zion are getting caught up in the political frenzy gripping the nation as if their Father has revealed His anointed to them. Some have even become unofficial campaign managers, vociferously promoting their messiah on the social media while tossing every manner of denigration on the other candidate. Moderation, intercession and circumspection have gone on holiday and will resume post February '15. Those who are still praying have changed their petition from "Your will be done" to "Make my candidate Your will". It should be remembered that noise, fabulous promises, verbal attacks, shrewd schemes and dirty tackles are part of Nigerian politics and why many call it a dirty game. As citizens of the country, believers should not remain indifferent to matters of election but should avoid freneticism and being embroiled in the dirty games others play.
Let me state this, like many Nigerians, I feel very angry at times about a lot of things in the country. To be candid, the outlook for the nation is grim unless...
So, GJ or MB, who will receive my vote?
To be continued.
(These are personal reflections and thoughts on the present political climate in Nigeria).
Let the one who will be best for Nigeria win.
