I think I agree with President Obama on this

President Obama reportedly told his Chicago audience that Americans have no right to complain about his immigration policy stating that the only Americans who can legitimately object to immigration are native Indians.

While I do not subscribe to an all-comers affair without any form of regulation, I have always thought that apart from the native Indians, all Americans are immigrants. The only difference is that some arrived earlier than others.

The greatest thing in the world II

The contrast

Love is what can heal the world. Love is what can heal wounded hearts and mend damaged lives. Love is what can heal you. Whether showing Love or being at the receiving end, it leaves everyone better. The power of Love is awesome. But remember, it is God's kind of love; pure, unpretentious and non-exploitative

Paul begins by contrasting Love with other things that men in those days thought much of. I shall not attempt to go over those things in detail. Their inferiority is already obvious.

He contrasts it with eloquence. And what a noble gift it is, the power of playing upon the souls and wills of men, and rousing them to lofty purposes and holy deeds. Paul says, "If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." And we all know why. We have all felt the brazenness of words without emotion, the hollowness, the unaccountable unpersuasiveness, of eloquence behind which lies no Love.

Life is precious, respect it (Video)

This actor Varun Pruthi video shared by Trishank Reddy is very instructive. I don't know the origin of the phrase "third world countries" although "developing countries" is the preferred term now; it appears to me that many third world countries are really third class although some are quite better. When Lawmakers became law breakers

... and honourable members of the House acted dishonourably

Got the following video from Facebook. Before someone begins to castigate and denigrate Nigeria where the incident in the video occurred, let me say that fracas in legislative houses are common worldwide, especially in developing countries. I don't support this though. Lawmakers should not become law breakers. See video after the cut.

The puzzles, the pains and the pleasures of life

There are many puzzles in life like why bad things happen to good people and vice versa. There are many pains in life like shattered dreams and loss of cherished ones. There are many pleasures like when you are out there on a safari and enjoying the wonders of nature.

There are many puzzles to make one sceptical about life and ask if there is really a God, many pains to make one doubt if God really cares if He does exist, many pleasures to make one think that is all there is to life.

But we must realise that God does exist and He understands it all; the puzzles, the pains and the pleasures. Take hold of Him. Lean on Him, walk in His love and live by your faith in Him. He will make sense out of it all for you.

What is happening to the Nigerian military?

It seems Boko Haram, the Islamic terror group, is having a field day in Nigeria with news of how it is easily capturing one town after the other recently. Granted that there are many complexities surrounding the BH saga, one cannot but still wonder whether the Nigerian military is up to the task of routing the insurgents.

The greatest thing in the world I

In a world filled with hate, selfishness, violence, vainglory, evil and wickedness; what could one say is the greatest thing? Everyone has asked himself the great question of antiquity as of the modern world: What is the summum bonum--the supreme good? You have life before you. Once only you can live it. What is the noblest object of desire, the supreme gift to covet? What is that one virtue that would make the world a safer, better and happier place to live? The virtue that will make you be at peace with yourself, live at peace with your neighbour and be at peace with your Maker?

We have been accustomed to be told that the greatest thing in the religious world is Faith. That great word has been the key-note for centuries of the popular religion; and we have easily learned to look upon it as the greatest thing in the world. Well, we are wrong. If we have been told that, we may miss the mark.

A moving story

Although some people pretend there is no harm in homosexuality, the reality is it is an evil bondage into which the devil hurls people. God, nature and logic are against homosexuality. The story below is a testimony to God's power to set all homosexuals free from that evil bondage.

A Former Lesbian’s Moving Testimony of Breaking Free From Homosexuality

By Matt Barber | charismanews.com

[Editor's note: I have come to know Wendy and her story through an amazing set of circumstances that only God could have arranged. She is a delightful woman who loves the Lord with all of her heart and has asked BarbWire to share her moving story of redemption and freedom from homosexual sin through the power of Christ Jesus. Wendy has said that it is her hope that her testimony might resonate with even one person who can relate to the circumstances that Satan used to lead her into the homosexual lifestyle. If you are that person, then you (and God) will know it. What the enemy intended for evil, God is using for incredible good in the life of Wendy. The same can be true for you. —Matt Barber]

My name is Wendy and I was born in a small town in Virginia. I was in church every time the doors were open for as far back as I can remember. I also attended the Christian school within my church that was rooted deeply in an Independent Baptist doctrine.

My mama was very sickly and was in and out of the hospital. I have a sister who is almost four years younger than me and a baby brother who only lived for three days and then passed away. Mama died Christmas of 1982 at the age of 32. At the time of her death, I was 11 and my sister was 7.

A candid advice

Don't follow the hype, follow the hard facts.
Don't follow the buzz, follow the bitter truth.
Don't follow self, follow the Spirit.
Don't follow the world, follow the Word.
Don't follow religion, follow the Redeemer.

The hype, the buzz, self, the world and religion will fade away someday but the truth, the Spirit, the Word and the Redeemer will abide forever.

Think about It...

There is so much violence, so much shooting and killing in secular American movies that it is now spilling into reality. Young people, wanting to be like Hollywood actors, go on shooting and killing spree. There is so much filth and indecency in these movies that is splashing all over the place. A lot of youngsters without originality suck in everything spewed forth from this immoral sewer. What good thing can hearts and lives dedicated to the devil and sold to promoting evil produce? What do you gain by watching what they produce? Some movies are more than enough manuals for terrorists, rapists and other seedier side of humanity.
